Be an excellent listerner!

How is your customer feeling today? How can you help in lightening the downcast soul? How can you, by means of your coffee makeing skilss AND YOUR CONVERSATION, make this person's day brighter and more positive?

These are questions that may not naturally be your first thoughts when greeting someine entering your café, but you definately CAN MAKE A PERSON FEEL BETTER!

You can take note of show genuine interest in them, their life (whatever they offer to share), and you can respond with understanding or with reflection if not.

Believe it or not, empathy can be learned. Therefore these skills can be developed... or lost by lack of use!
