Serving Coffee - Art
What? Coffee Art?
Yes. Often called Latte Art. This is the facinating way of preparing coffee created by pouring 'microfoam' into a shot of espresso which results in a pattern or design on the surface of the coffee. It can also be created or embellished by simply 'drawing' in the top layer of foam.
To make microfoam that your baristaone pours into your cup, they usually add steam to milk and then rapidly heat it.
This is a scientific process called “denaturing” wherein the physical properties of milk are altered.
The barista then pours the steamed milk in such a way that the milk drains first, then he manipulates the pouring of the foam in order to create the design, Et voilà!
Different patterns include:
Solid Heart
Simple Tulip
Rosetta
Swan
